Remy Ma is turning a personal tragedy into triumph for other women, with plans to start a fund to help women who wants kids of their own.
The rapper sadly suffered a miscarriage early in the year, and also found out that she wouldn’t be able to carry any kids to term. “First I was distraught, I was embarrassed, I was ashamed; I felt less than a woman and [the doctor] assured me that was no way to feel and that for a certain amount of thousands of dollars, it can be fixed. And because I have the finances, I never even thought twice about it,” Remy admitted about the miscarriage to Essence.
However, that led her to think about other women who may not be able to afford the expensive payments for fertility treatments, even with heath insurance. “It’s just weird to me that if you want to terminate a pregnancy, you could use your health insurance; however, if you wanted to conceive, health insurance doesn’t cover that,” Remy said. “So I’m looking at all of these politicians that claim that they’re pro-life and they want to eradicate women having the choice to terminate their pregnancies, but if you’re pro-life, why would you not set up something so women who can’t conceive and women who want to be mothers can do so.”
So Remy’s taking matters into her own hands, planning to create a fund that will help women who want to seek treatment to have kids on their own like with in vitro fertilization! Things are in the beginning stages, but it’s incredible that Remy is channeling her pain into helping other women. Meanwhile, she is trying to get pregnant with her husband Papoose through in vitro. Sending well wishes to them both!
