Christie Brinkley will bring new smiles to 300 kids with clefts around the world after raising almost $75,000!
Serving as Goodwill Ambassador of Smile Train, Christie committed to donate proceeds of her Ageless Beauty sets from her skincare line, Christie Brinkley Authentic Skincare, to the organization. Twenty percent of the proceeds from each Ageless Beauty set sold from May 2016 to December 2016 went to Smile Train!
This donation was a part of Christie’s continuing dedication to help children with clefts around the world. At a special event at Smile Train’s global headquarters late last week, the supermodel and actress presented a check for almost $75,000 to the organization’s CEO, Susannah Schaefer!
“Through Christie Brinkley® Authentic Skincare™, I was able to use our Ageless Beauty Kit to benefit Smile Train. It’s important to me to present this check today, knowing that 300 cleft children will receive the surgery they need and have the opportunity for new lives,” Christie said at the event. “I’m excited to continue to help give children new smiles with Smile Train, an organization close to my heart, and see the difference we can make together.”
Smile Train has been around helping children living with untreated clefts globally since 1999. Christie herself has been an ambassador for the organization for almost 10 years, helping to raise money and awareness over the years!
It’s very important for these kids to have a chance to fix their clefts, and not just because of physical appearance and confidence. Millions of kids in developing countries with clefts have trouble eating, breathing and speaking. Smile Train has been able to provide training, funding, and resources for local doctors in these developing countries to perform free cleft surgeries and care where it’s most needed. That’s definitely a positive cause to be a part of. It’s great that Christie continues to work so hard with the organization, and donated proceeds from her own line to contribute as well!
