Future, Usher and more have given back to the United Negro College Fund to help black students go to and get through college!
This past weekend, the 33rd annual UNCF Atlanta Mayor’s Masked Ball was held to help raise funds for the organization. Through his Freewishes Foundation, Future donated $25,000 to the program. Jeezy, Tyrese, and Usher, who were all in attendance, also contributed to the cause. Usher has partnered with the UNCF on behalf of his New Look Atlanta Leadership Academy, providing a $100,000 UNCF scholarship. Tyrese and Jeezy also contributed $25,000 each.
The Atlanta Mayor’s Masked Ball is definitely a lot of fun, but is a very important event for the UNCF, who hope to impact the lives of students trying to get through college. “This must-attend event is full of fun, fashion, glitz and glamour that supports UNCF’s mission of investing in better futures for the young men and women we serve and by helping them move to and through college,” noted the UNCF in a description of the event.
It’s greatly important too because federal funding for historically black colleges and universities has significantly decreased, as have enrollment rates. So every bit definitely helps. It’s awesome that these guys and other attendees were able to contribute to make a difference.
