Ahead of October, which marks Domestic Violence Awareness Month, Nelly recently performed at the Face Forward annual fundraiser gala to continue to fight against the serious issue.
The rapper, along with his girlfriend Shantel Jackson, was one of several celeb guests at the gala, which was held on Sept. 24 at Vibiana in Downtown Los Angeles. Nelly hit the stage, performing some of his biggest hits, including “Country Grammar,” “Hot in Herre,” and a special performance of “Dilemma,” with Shantel.
The night, in keeping up with the event’s “Havana Nights” theme, also featured both a silent and live auction, mojito bar, cigar lounge, conga drums, and more! Shantel, along with former basketball player and head coach Byron Scott and philanthropist and businesswoman Hikmat Al Kaitoob, were honored as well for their work towards domestic violence awareness. Other celebrity guests included AC Green, Neal Fraser, Renee Lawless, Christina DeRosa, B Taylor, Lu Parker, and many more.
Founded in 2007, Face Forward provides pro bono reconstructive surgery for victims of severe domestic abuse with funds raised supporting travel, aftercare and additional associated costs.
It’s really great that Nelly and the other attendees were able to give of their time to Face Forward! You can learn more about this amazing organization and donate here.
