Drake has been in Mzansi, South Africa for the past couple of days, shooting a new music video, and made time to stop by a school to inspire some students!
The rapper dropped by Nelson Mandela Academy in Johannesburg to chat with the kids about their future. “I encourage you to do everything you can to make the future here as bright as you possibly can,” he said. “We’re all young. We all have some end goal or some dream.” As the kids cheered for him, he opened up about how he works hard to be successful for his family, and his hometown of Toronto! “And take it from me, I sat around for a lot of days thinking about my family, my loved ones, where I’m from and trying to make the place where I’m from proud of me,” Drake admitted.

This visit was perfect timing with South Africa having celebrated its 40th anniversary of the area’s Youth Month in June. Throughout the month, the children who were lost in the June 16, 1976 Soweto uprising are honored and shown love.
It’s great that Drake made the time to stop through and show love to these kids while he was there!
