Jesse Williams is amazing on Grey’s Anatomy, but he is a powerful activist as well, and will be honored for his work!

The actor has been used his platform to highlight the Black Lives Matter movement, and speak out on the injustices seen in the country.  In addition to being on the board of directors at advocacy group The Advancement Project, Jesse has written articles for CNN and The Huffington Post, openly expressing his frustration, and even met with President Barack Obama this year to discuss the movement. For his activism, he will receive the Humanitarian Award at the 2016 BET Awards!

“Jesse has proven to be a true pioneer of our generation,” the network said in a statement. “[He] is a refreshing new face of activism during a time of crisis in this country.”

Definitely have been paying attention to Jesse’s activism over the past few years, and this award is well deserved. It’s always great to see celebs using their voice and platform to highlight bigger issues going on not only within this country, but worldwide.

  1. I am really waiting to hear what the fun bunch voices, who critique any and everything Black in the most negative terms, have to say about this speech, which was among the most honest iterations, of current and long standing conditions impacting the Black community.
