Florence & the Machine made one fan’s dream come true with a special surprise visit!
15-year-old Karinya, who is currently in hospice care at Hospice Austin’s Christopher House, had planned to attend the group’s show in Austin, TX, on May 19. However, due to the severity of her illness, she was sadly unable to make it.
After hearing her story, lead vocalist Florence Welch and guitarist Rob Ackroyd surprised Karinya with her own special concert, up close and personal! The group sang some of their hits, including “Shake It Out,” as the teen sang along. Others came in to watch and record on their phones, everyone filled with excitement and happiness that the group would come out.
“Today we were privileged to witness the clear joy of a room full of teenagers singing with Florence Welch and guitarist Rob Ackroyd from Florence and The Machine who came to Hospice Austin’s Christopher House to give a private concert to a teen who missed her concert last night due to her illness,” the center wrote on its YouTube video of the visit. The message continued: “The room was full; full of joy and warmth and love and life and singing. Thank you, Florence!”
