The Los Angeles based animal rescue organization, the Lange Foundation, is proud to be selected as the 2016 beneficiary of the Kristen Stewart Birthday Project. The Lange Foundation is recognized for its tireless dedication to the rehabilitation and placement of animals that may otherwise never have a second chance at a healthy and happy life.
Each year, in honor of the actress’s birthday, fans of Kristen Stewart band together to raise much-needed funds for a group-elected charitable organization. Fans voted to support the Lange Foundation because Stewart is an avid animal lover who has three of her own rescue dogs. This year, the group hopes to raise at least $27,000 to help the Lange Foundation’s full service animal sanctuary and adoption center continue to save more animal lives. Proceeds will go towards treatment, rehabilitation and ongoing care to help prepare animals for placement into loving homes.
Animal rescue is a unique world that is powered almost entirely by donations and volunteer work. In Los Angeles County, roughly half of all abandoned and homeless animals taken in by animal control are put down because of overcrowding (cats, pit bulls, chihuahuas and older and injured animals are at an exceptionally higher risk). The Lange Foundation rescues pets in all conditions and sizes from county shelters, many who are in need of extensive medical treatment and surgery, and provide care and kennels for them until they are placed into forever homes. The Lange Foundation’s goal is to ultimately eliminate the need for animal rescue shelters and has made its mission for the last two decades a simple one: “Animals first”.
