Kevin Durant recently hosted the first charity fundraiser for his foundation, the Kevin Durant Charity Foundation!
According to the Oklahoma Thunder’s official site, the event was held on Sunday (March 20), with many of Kevin’s own teammates, coaches, and staff in attendance, as well as others in the the OKC community. The fundraiser also benefited the “Build it and They Will Ball” initiative and other good works that Kevin’s foundation supports, including Positive Tomorrows school in downtown Oklahoma City.
Kevin continues to use his platform to make an impact in Oklahoma, donating time, money, and energy to several places, specifically schools. “The huge goal is to inspire kids and give them a sense of hope that things can happen for you and that you can continue to follow your dreams and anything can happen if you put your mind to it,” he said. “I feel really passionately about that.”
“I’m always proud of my son, but one of the things I’m most proud of is how he’s carrying on our family legacy and giving back to the community,” KD’s mother, Wanda Pratt added. “We didn’t have much but he saw our family give back and so I’m grateful that he’s in a position to give and is doing the things that he’s doing.”
It’s awesome to hear of all the great work that Kevin and his team on the foundation is doing. Kudos to them!
