J.R. Smith Raises $45K for Charity with Casino-Themed Fundraising Gala

J.R. Smith of the Cleveland Cavaliers, hosted a Charity Casino Night Gala, raising $45,000 for his nonprofit, the J.R. Smith Youth Foundation!

Per marketing firm Crtney+Co, the black-tie event, organized by New Generation Management, was held in NYC at Stage 48 on March 25. All of the funds raised at the gala will go to J.R.’s foundation, which is committed to supporting through the arts, education, and sports, along with offering scholarships, grants and other programs to help them reach their dreams!

During the casino-themed affair, which was hosted by TV and radio sportscaster, Tina Cervasio, guests participated in a poker tournament, silent auction, and raffle with donations from brands like EA Sports, Skullcandy, Rockstar Games, among others. Another big prize up for grabs were tickets to the ESPYS and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony!

Many well-known athletes and names in Hollywood came out to support including Victor Cruz , Iman Shumpert , Rondae Hollis-JeffersonJaiquawn JarrettTy LawsonTeyana TaylorDJ Clue (Power 105.1) Carl Lentz, and Special Olympics Gold Medalist, Brad Hennefer. 

J.R. thanked everyone for their support, and opened up about how this grand night would impact kids across the nation through his foundation. “”This is all about the kids. I’m a firm believer in investing in the youth,” the NBA player stated. “At the end of the day, they’re all that we have.”

J.R. isn’t stopping here! Today, March 30th, he’ll be in his hometown of Cleveland for a charity bowling tournament for the foundation.  It’s really awesome that he has created this foundation to invest in America’s youth!  They really are the future, and, with assistance from organizations like J.R.’s, they’re bound to go far!
