Jay-Z’s Tidal Service Donates $1.5 Million to Social Justice Groups and Charities

Jay Z’s Tidal service is making a huge donation to various social justice groups and charities!

According to THE STASHED, the music streaming service, in collaboration with Roc Nation, announced that it will be making a $1.5 million donation to these different groups, including Opportunity Agenda, The Baltimore Justice Fund, and the Black Lives Matter organization. The company made the official announcement on Friday, February 5th, in honor of what would’ve been Trayvon Martin’s 21st birthday.

The funds for the donation stem from profits from the first Tidal X: 1020 show which was held last fall in Brooklyn, New York. The sold-out charity concert featured performances from Jay Z, Beyoncé, Nicki Minaj, Usher, Lil Wayne, Nick Jonas and more. The New World Foundation, which helps fund various civil rights and social movements, will administer Tidal’s donation to Black Lives Matter and the other chosen groups and charities this month. Other groups include: Hands Up United, Sankofa, Community Coalition (California), Dream Defenders (Florida), Black Youth Project (Illinois), Ohio Students Association/Organizing Collaborative, Empowerment Development Corporation (Maryland), Million Hoodies (New York) and The Gathering for Justice League (New York).

It’s so incredible that Jay-Z and the folks over at Tidal are using their huge platform to be able to host charity events like this and give back to organizations in a major way!
