Ellen DeGeneres was honored this week with the Favorite Humanitarian award at the People’s Choice Awards!

According to PEOPLE, the talk shot host received the award on Wednesday, January 6, joking as only she can. “This is crazy. I mean, so, so deserved, but this is crazy,” she joked. “I have to say, It’s a little strange to actually get an award for being nice and generous and kind which is what we’re all supposed to do with one another. That’s the point of being a human.”

Of course, Ellen gives back throughout the year, and uses her show to bring joy to others.  “Would I call myself the Mother Teresa of talk shows?” she added. “The Dali Lama of daytime? No. But I’m sure someone out there has.” On a serious note, the comedian encouraged everyone to be kind to others, something she says at the end of every show. She left the stage, wanting to “be kind” to everyone in the audience herself. “Tonight I want to make you happy,” she said, as a shirtless pic of Chris Hemsworth flashed across the auditorium screen. “You’re welcome.”

Absolutely LOVE her spirit! Check out Ellen’s hilarious yet moving speech below!
