Christmas came early for a Swiftie this year, with a gift that she’ll never forget! Taylor Swift paid a surprise visit to Delaney Clements, a fan who is currently battling cancer.
According to Us Weekly, Taylor went to see Delaney in a Colorado hospital on Saturday, December 19. “Literally speechless right now!!!!!” Delaney captioned a photo of the two of them on Instagram. “My best friend (as I call her now) made a special stop from going home to Tennessee and surprised me and gave me the best present/hugg ever!! Thank you!! I love you!! Happy holidays!!”
Delaney was diagnosed with stage 4 neuroblastoma when she was only eight. The 12 year old has since started her own nonprofit organization Delaney Donates, which helps local families affected by cancer. Unfortunately, Delaney’s mother announces that the girl’s cancer has spread to her head. The family, her mom told fans, has decided to keep her “as comfortable as possible and to keep her spirits uplifted as she travels on a journey we fought so hard to avoid.” Delaney’s family and friends launched the social media campaign #DelaneyMeetTaylor in hopes of connecting her to one of her musical idols. And it worked!
Taylor is always going to see her fans, putting a great smile on their faces when they need it the most. I’m glad that Delaney was able to spend this precious time with her favorite singer! It’s something that she will never forget. Thoughts and prayers go out to Delaney and her family.
