Rihanna hosted her second annual Diamond Ball late last week, and the event raised over $3 million for the Clara Lionel Foundation!
According to Entertainment Weekly, the formal event, hosted by Kevin Hart, raised the funds for the foundation to assisted underprivileged communities world wide. Rihanna created the foundation back in 2012 in honor of her grandparents, Clara and Lionel Brathwaite.
Rihanna said in an interview with ET that she knows her grandmother would be proud of her efforts. “She is definitely here in spirit and she feels delighted to be a part of such a great cause, raising money in her honor, to help, save and change many lives,” the singer said.
The event was truly a star-studded affair with attendees including Will Smith, Jada Pinkett Smith, Kylie Jenner, Emily Ratajkowski and Zendaya. The ball included a live auction, which included a Bono-signed guitar and an exact replica of Rihanna’s custom Christian Dior gown.
It’s so great to continue to see Rihanna’s foundation flourish, and truly make an impact on communities all over the globe!
