Former Who’s The Boss star Danny Pintauro has been named the newest ambassador for The Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation.
According to PEOPLE, the announcement was made at a small event at UCLA on World AIDS Day (Dec. 1). In a statement from the organization, Danny said, “Elizabeth Taylor’s legacy as the most vehemently dedicated celebrity fighting for people living with HIV/AIDS will live on long after her passing. I hope to continue that legacy, with as much vehemence, as an ambassador for her amazing organization.”
Former ambassadors for the foundation include Colin Farrell, Whoopi Goldberg, Hairspray director Adam Shankman and Mean Girls star Daniel Franzese.
The former child star revealed he was HIV-positive on a past episode of Oprah: Where are They Now?, having contracted the disease in 2003. Since then, Danny has been actively promoting awareness for HIV/AIDS, including a launch of his Beacon of Light educational tour.
It’s great that Danny will continue to use his voice to educate others throughout the world!
