This weekend was an important one for A&E’s Duck Dynasty sweetheart and New York Times Bestselling author Sadie Robertson. On Saturday, Robertson hosted her first large-scale event, “Live Original LIVE,” where she delivered an inspirational three-hour performance of motivational speeches, skits and videos alongside several family members and friends to a sold-out crowd of more than 4,000 people at Lipscomb University’s Allen Arena in Nashville.
“God has blown me away a lot of times in my life,” Robertson posted to her 2.2 million followers on Instagram, “but tonight He went above and beyond. I pray this is just the beginning of a movement for the people in this world to start living original!”
Robertson opened the event with a personal story about fear. Once the roaring crowd died down, the eighteen-year-old opened up to her audience and admitted she initially was too afraid to accept her role on ABC’s Dancing With The Stars in Season 19, on which she ended up an instant crowd favorite and even snagged 2nd place.
Interspersed with videos for her favorite partnerships and causes – including Glory Haus’ “Pickles for a Purpose” and the non-profit YouWood benefitting “Purchased: Not For Sale” – Robertson brought the crowd an evening of fun and encouraging messages surrounding her call for her peers and fans to “live original.” The evening also included a special Q&A session on relationships – emceed by her cousin Cole Robertson – which was joined by newlyweds John Luke and Mary Kate Robertson, Reed Robertson and his girlfriend Brighton Thompson as well as “The Bachelor” couple Sean and Catherine Lowe.
Other featured speakers of “Live Original LIVE,” sponsored by Glory Haus, included filmmaker Max Zoghbi and his wife Bonnie Kate, who shared the inspirational tale of their faith through suffering as a victim of “The Dark Knight” shooting in Colorado, as well as Sadie’s boyfriend and star high school athlete Blake Coward. Event partners include Glory Haus as the title sponsor, BYOU, Dear Magazine, Purchased, Roma Boots, Pure Flix, Deer Run Retreat, yesHEis, DaySpring and more.
The packed crowd was also treated to a night of great music from Reed Robertson, who sang several original tracks along with his own popular cover of “Hallelujah” – as well as Christian pop duo for KING & COUNTRY, who concluded the night with an electric performance featuring their hits, of which a vast amount of the crowd knew every word.
