Lady Gaga and Diane Warren Release Song To Bring Awareness to College Sexual Assault

Lady Gaga and Diane Warren have released a special song that has been used to bring awareness to sexual assault on college campuses across the U.S.

According to Look To The Stars, the duo’s song, “Til It Happens To You,” is the theme for director Catherine Hardwicke‘s PSA on campus sexual assault in connection with the critically acclaimed documentary, The Hunting Ground. The Hunting Ground is a hard-hitting exposé on sexual assault on campuses across the country. A portion of the proceeds of the song, written by Diane and sung by Gaga, will be donated to organizations helping survivors of sexual assault.

“After watching The Hunting Ground, I was inspired by the survivors who had the courage to tell their stories,” Diane said of the song. “This song, with its message of hope and empowerment, is my heartfelt tribute to them and will also resonate with anyone who has been bullied, lost a loved one or just feels alone in the world.”

Gaga herself has stood up for this issue many times in the past. In fact, earlier this year, she wrote an op-ed with Governor Andrew Cuomo calling for the passage of New York State’s “Enough is Enough” bill. “We have a responsibility to the young men and women of this country to stand up against sexual violence everywhere. Everyone – from lawmakers and educators to advocates like Born This Way Foundation and the students themselves – need to join forces on this issue,” she stated. “Together, we must create the scaffolding necessary to foster the mental, emotional, and physical health of all young people.” The law was signed into law in July.
