Taylor Swift has made another generous donation–this time to one of her dedicated Swifties!
According to PEOPLE, 11-year-old Naomi Oakes found out in late June that she had been diagnosed with acute myelogenous leukemia. However, the young girl refused to give up, choosing Taylor’s own song, “Bad Blood,” as her theme song.
On July 5, her loved ones posted a video which detailed Naomi’s story, revealing the fact that because her aggressive treatment involves being hospitalized for six to nine months, she would not be able to attend Taylor’s concert in Phoenix, Arizona, on Aug 18. The video asked for people to help get the message to Taylor and ask her to post a #TeamNaomi message on Instagram.
Two days after the video was posted, Taylor instead made a generous donation on a Go Fund Me page set up by Naomi’s uncle to raise money for Naomi’s medical expenses. Taylor gave $50,000, leaving a Naomi a message. “To the beautiful and brave Naomi,” she wrote. “I’m sorry you have to miss it, but there will always be more concerts. Let’s focus on getting you feeling better. I’m sending the biggest hugs to you and your family.”
On Tuesday, Naomi’s uncle posted a video of his niece’s emotional reaction to Swift’s donation and message. “I can barely breathe,” Naomi said. “I seriously think I’m going to pass out right now.”

I’m really emotional right now! That was really sweet of Taylor to do. Her own mother was diagnosed with cancer back in April, so I’m sure she understands a bit of Naomi and her family’s struggle to fight. The fact that she reached out in such a great way to help says a lot about her! Get well soon Naomi!
