Johnny Depp was spotted decked out in his famous Jack Sparrow costume to visit patients at a children’s hospital in Australia this week!
According to Yahoo! Celebrity, the actor made a surprise visit to the Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital in Queensland, Australia to surprise some of the kids there! He and his co-star Stephen Graham (Scrum) rocked their costumes, and made the children’s day as they took a break from filming Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.
The Children’s Hospital Foundation shared photos from the “special surprise visit” by the “two very famous pirates” during which they made “a real difference to sick kids and their families in hospital.”
Max Bennett, a 7-year-old with transverse myelitis, a rare neurological disorder, was one of the youngsters to meet the actors. His mother, Rachel, told Australia’s ABC News that Johnny “was going from room to room seeing all the kids who couldn’t get out of bed. We waited out of the front of one of the rooms, and he came up to us and had a really good chat to Max.” Johnny also gave Max and other patients some special “gold coins,” which were engraved with pirate heads.
Rachel added, “It was really beautiful. Everyone kept on trying to move [Depp] on, but he kept on coming back. He came on the condition that he wasn’t pushed along and crowded by adults and he could spend as much time as he wanted with the kids.”
