Stephen Colbert made a big donation to South Carolina public schools this week!
According to The Greenville News. Stephen announced this week that he plans to fund all of the 1,000 grant requests submitted by South Carolina public school teachers on the crowd funding website DonorsChoose.org!
Stephen, joining together with Share Fair Nation and ScanSource, will give $800,000 to accommodate all of the requests. The comedian made the announcement in a live video stream before students, teachers, and officials at an elementary school in Greenville, SC Thursday May, 7, which was also streamed at a conference hosted by DonorsChoose.org in New York.
“Using the proceeds of the sale of my old set on The Colbert Report which we auctioned off, and with the generous matching funds from The Morgridge Family Foundation and ScanSource, DonorsChoose is going to flash-fund all 1,000 projects in South Carolina,” he said. “Enjoy your learning, South Carolina.” Check out the video here!
