T-Boz of legendary female power group TLC is hosting and performing at her own charity concert this weekend for sickle cell awareness!
According to BET, the concert, titled “T-Boz and Friends Unplugged Featuring Raphael Saadiq,” will take place in L.A. this Sunday, April 19 at the Grammy Museum at L.A. LIVE! Other artists that will perform include Faith Evans, Kat Graham, and T-Boz’s girl group ATLA. T-Boz will aslo perform a special rendition of TLC’s hit “Waterfalls.”
In an interview with Bossip, T-Boz admitted that the idea for the concert came from a dream “I told him [Raphael], ‘When I had the dream, I saw you next to me holding a bass.’ So, we’re making my dream come true.”
All proceeds from the event will go to the Sickle Cell Foundation, which T-Boz, who struggles herself with the disease, has been a part of for years. “I love the work that they do and I know the money goes to a good cause,” she said. “It helps children and parents… It goes to a lot of things that people may not think about unless they’re ill.”
Fans can donate and purchase tickets to the event on Chideo. The lowest accepted donation of $10 will give fans access to a live stream of the event while the highest of $199 offer one ticket to the event with priority seating in the first few rows, as well as an opportunity for a meet and greet with T-Boz and other perks.
This is so awesome! T-Boz has been active with supporting others with sickle cell over the years, and to do a concert for awareness is a great idea. I hope Chilli performs with her too!
