Stars like Drew Barrymore, Tia and Tamera Mowry, and Tyler Perry are coming out in droves to support Safe Kids Day 2015!
Throughout the month of April, according to PR Newswire, events will be held around the country to raise awareness and money to help prevent childhood injuries, the number one cause of death for children in the United States.
Along with Drew, Tia, Tamera, and Tyler, other celebrities and athletes joining the effort as Safe Kids Day Celebrity Heroes include Sharon Stone, Piers Morgan, Gwen Stefani, Nicole Richie, Joel Madden, Donald Faison, Vanna White, Sugar Ray Leonard, and more! The Safe Kids Day signature fundraising event will be held on Sunday, April 26 at The Lot in Los Angeles, with Safe Kids local coalitions hosting 180 events in communities across the country.
“Every parent wants to keep their child safe. That’s a given. Yet far too many children suffer needlessly from a preventable injury,” said Kate Carr, president and CEO of Safe Kids Worldwide. “We have made great strides – a 60 percent decrease in fatalities since 1988 – but we can and must do better. And that’s what Safe Kids Day is all about. It’s teaching the simple things that can be done so that kids grow up healthy, safe and strong.”
It’s really commendable that all of these celebs are participating. I know that a good number of them do have kids, and younger kids at that, that are susceptible to injury and accidents. I hope that the efforts through the month and on April 26th will teach parents, guardians, and those that work with children various ways to help keep our youth safe!
The fundraising goal for the 2015 Safe Kids Day campaign is $1.2 million. Learn more about the organization and get more info on how to donate by visit the official websites for Safe Kids Worldwide and Safe Kids Day!
