Adam Driver has partnered with charitable marketplace IfOnly for a special Star Wars charity auction to benefit arts in the military!
According to PR Newswire, fans will have a chance to win a hand-signed photo by the cast of the upcoming film, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, as well as a tour of the Lucasfilm campus in San Francisco. The auction will benefit Adam’s cause Arts in the Armed Forces (AITAF). AITAF is an organization Adam co-founded that brings performing arts to the military free of charge. Adam himself first enlisted into the military, then went to Julliard, before beginning his career in film and television. With that journey, it makes sense that he would come up with a creative idea like this!
“AITAF brings quality entertainment to veterans and those currently serving. We cultivate tonally eclectic, often hilarious content that focuses on the human challenges we all share. We recruit great actors to read it, and make it cost-free. Though AITAF offers an artistic experience that can’t immediately be quantified, the feeling after an AITAF performance is tangible, as we watch someone from the military ‘get’ that the act of self-expression is as powerful a tool as the rifle on their shoulder.”
The signed photo being auctioned includes faces and signatures from the cast of the remake, but also cast members from the previous original films. Those who signed included Adam himself, of course, as well as J.J. Abrams, Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Lupita Nyong’o, Andy Serkis, Oscar Isaac, and more!
The auction is open for bidding today and will end on March 19, 2015. Check it out here!
