J. Cole’s recent release, 2014 Forest Hills Drive, is an amazing look at the rapper’s journey from boy to man. Now, the rapper has announced plans to use the house that the album is named after as a rent-free safe place for families that need assistance!
In an interview with the Combat Jack show, J. Cole opened up about moving from military housing to a trailer park to the single family home at 2014 Forest Hills Drive in Fayettesville, NC (the address that his most recent album is named after). His mother lost the house some years ago, and J. Cole recently decided to buy it back. Though he doesn’t live there himself, he plans to do something even more incredible with the property–allow struggling families to live there rent-free to get themselves back on their feet.
“What we gon’ do, we still working it out right now, obviously it’s a detailed, fragile situation I don’t wanna play with,” the rapper said. “My goal is to have that be a haven for families. So every two years a new family will come in, they live rent-free. The idea is that it’s a single mother with multiple kids and she’s coming from a place where all her kids is sharing a room. She might have two, three kids, they’re sharing a room. She gets to come here rent free. I want her kids to feel how I felt when we got to the house.”
This is a great and selfless idea! I’m sure that there are a lot of families that could use that help to get back on their feet. I’m sure that Cole will be able to pull it off, and I can’t wait to see the happy ending!
