Angel Ball Raises $3.7 Million For Gabrielle’s Angel Foundation For Cancer Research

Gabrielle’s Angel Foundation for Cancer Research presented its annual fundraiser, the Angel Ball, Monday night at Cipriani Wall Street. This black-tie benefit, hosted by Grammy-nominated songwriter Denise Rich, honored His Excellency Yousef Al Otaiba, United Arab Emirates Ambassador to the United States, and Abeer Al Otaiba; four-time NASCAR Cup Series champion and Founder of the Jeff Gordon Children’s Foundation, Jeff Gordon; Jho Low, Chief Executive Officer of Jynwel Capital Limited and Director of the Jynwel Charitable Foundation Limited; and multi-Grammy Award-winning producer and composer Nile Rodgers.

This signature fundraising event of Gabrielle’s Angel Foundation stands out as one of the highlights of the New York social season. This year, lead sponsors featured United Airlines as the Official Angel Ball Airline, and Italian fashion house Emilio Pucci as Décor Sponsor. Champagne for the event was provided by CHAMPAGNE TAITTINGER. Other sponsors included Voss Water, Haute Living and Red Bull.

Emceed by Rocsi Diaz, the show began with an incredible performance by The Voice’s Avery Wilson. Clive Davis introduced both him and the second surprise performer of the night, Alicia Keys. Keys took a seat at the piano to perform “We Are Here” and “No One” as the crowd sang along.

Honoree Nile Rodgers and Chic kept the momentum going, as the crowd got to their feet and danced along to “Le Freak,” “Everybody Dance,” “Good Times” and “We Are Family.”

After dinner, Jamie Foxx performed his chart-topping hits “Blame It on the Alcohol”, “Started From the Bottom” and “Gold Digger.” Ludacris then surprised the crowd by joining Foxx on the stage during a performance of DJ Khaled’s “All I Do is Win.” He also performed “Yeah,” “Pimping All Over the World,” “Money Maker,” “How Low” and “Move.” The duo pulled audience members up on the stage to dance and sing along.

In one of the evening’s most memorable moments, three former patients of Children’s National Health System – Arabelle, Jozlyn and Jaimin – spoke to the audience about the moment Gabrielle’s Angel Foundation entered each of their lives. Last year, celebrity jewelry designer and Gala Chair, Lorraine Schwartz visited them in Washington, D.C. andtaught them how to create and design their own jewelry pieces. Their designs were then produced and worn by their favorite celebrities – Beyoncé wore a pair of earrings by Jozlyn’s; Katy Perry wore a ring by Arabelle; and Taylor Swift wore a bracelet by Jaimin.

The one-of-a-kind flower designed ring by Arabelle was modeled live at the galaby model Gigi Hadid and went sold in the live auction for $35,000.Brook Hazelton served as the auctioneer which raised $175,000 in total. Charitybuzz hosted a global online auction in conjunction with the gala that featured additional experiences and items, which is currently open through November 4, 2014 HERE.
