Which teacher believed in Justin Bieber before the Beliebers? Who was the person that inspired Pitbull when he was still a pup?
Celebrity or not, many of us have at least one teacher who changed our lives—yet these unsung heroes are spending a combined $1.33 billion of their own money annually on school supplies for their students (Source: National School Supply and Equipment Association).
Real Change—Artists for Education—a one-night, nationally televised TV special airing on CBS in major markets this April 23 (check local listings)—is fighting to change that, bringing together A-listers like Biebs and Pitbull, plus Miley Cyrus, Quincy Jones, Lady Antebellum, Jason Mraz to:
· Revisit their hometown schools and highlight the teachers that changed their lives
· Spotlight other outstanding education all-stars striving to guide today’s youth
· Help deserving classrooms across America
· Give some exclusive musical performances along the way
Real Change is in partnership with AdoptAClassroom.org—a non-profit that pairs donors and deserving teachers who need funds for their classes—and Office Depot, the proud purveyor of these much-needed school supplies. The mission: inspire teachers across the country to register with AdoptAClassroom.org and move viewers to donate and support these classes in need.
