Rihanna is redefining what beautiful really is! The pop star from Barbados just donated $1.75 MILLION to a hospital in Barbados in honor of her grandmother.
And Ri says that she hopes the donation will be used to buy three pieces of medical equipment that the hospital is in need of.
During a ceremony on Saturday held at the island’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Rihanna made the announcement alongside her mother Monica Fenty and her grandmother’s husband. The hospital will be renamed Clara Braithwaite Centre for Oncology and Nuclear Medicine, in honor of Rihanna’s grandmother.
In a statement to E! News, the singer said, “This was my way of giving back to Barbados, in a form of philanthropy, by assisting the QEH in its continued modernization program…I believe that this will have a huge impact on the people of Barbados. This was all done to save lives or at least extend them.”
Her grandmother would certainly be proud!
